Google Adwords and Adsense.

Google Adwords and Adsense.

Have you ever notices that some websites have Ads by Google on them? Well this is a system where you allow Google to advertise other people’s products or services on your page. You see Google have integrated two of their services Google Adwords and Google Adsense.

Imagine that you are selling bicycle tyres (spelt tires in the US.). You might consider placing an advert. in your local newspaper.  I say local because you would probably not want; or be able to afford to advertise in every newspaper in the world, so you’d only advertise in the area that on the one hand you can afford and to an area you can deliver to easily.

Google now allow you to place these same adverts. on other people’s websites. The important thing to know is that you can adjust when and where the adverts appear. For Example: You can place your ads. to appear on only Wednesdays in the Birmingham area. You can adjust your budget so that you control how much you Google charge either by setting a fixed sum or by setting your spend to a fixed amount per day.

So what happens to the money you pay Google for this service?

We naturally they keep most of the money but they pay people who allow them to post the adverts. on their websites. This is where Google Adsense comes in. Anyone with a website can apply to Google for an Adsense account. If they allow you to place ads. on your site you will be given some code which includes your unique identity. Once you add this code to the page on which you want Google to put the ads. the adverts wil appear.

If anyone visits your page or post they will see your ads. (Important. When people see your page this is called an ‘Impression’. When they click on an Ad. this is called a ‘Click’)

You will get a percentage of what Google charge for every ‘Click’.

So Adwords are Adverts and Adsense are where they are allowed to be seen.

A WORD OF CAUTION.

Read the Terms of Google BEFORE you allow ads to appear on your site. If Google even imagine that you have breached their rules you get BANNED. And once that happens all your adverts disappear and you will not be allowed to use adsense ever again.

I know because it happened to me. I don’t know what I did wrong but I suspect that someone deliberately clicked repeatedly on my Ads. This is a NO NO. If Google imagine that you are clicking on your own ads. to earn money they will Ban you. AND they will not explain why.

Believe me.

To avoid being Banned by Google I suggest you look at Adsense ClickLock – It will help prevent Google Banning you.
